Hemp Pesto Christmas Tree Tear and Share

Cooked using

  • 100ml Good Hemp Original Oil
  • 50g fresh basil
  • 30g dairy-free grated cheese
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast
  • 50g pine nuts
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 sheets of vegan puff pastry



Preheat oven to 180c. To make the pesto simply add all the ingredients except the puff pastry to a blend and blend until a pesto consistency is reached.


Roll out both sheets of pastry and using a knife cut a square into the bottom of each to resemble the trunk of the tree.


Then find the centre of the side at the top of the pastry and cut two lines down to corners on the same side to make a triangle. Save the cut offs to make a star to place on the top. Repeat on the other sheet.


Next spread the pesto all over one sheet of puff pastry and then carefully place the other sheet on top. Cut lines all the way up both sides to the top of the tree and then twist the pieces. Press the edges of each twist together.


Once both sides of the tree are twisted place the star on top of the tree gently pressing it to attach.

  1. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Allow to cool for a few minutes before tearing of branches to eat.
