What does your salad dressing say about you? 5 Hemp Seed Oil Dressings to Try
Star signs are so 2018! We want to know how you like your salad dressing. We think it might be the most telling test yet.
We’re about to start the very spiritual journey of reading your salad dressing and what it says about you. The great thing is that everyone reading this very important article (which may or may not change your life) is already pretty cool and open-minded. They’re willing to try new things and are not ruled by convention, choosing to see past olive oil and explore the wonderful world of hemp. Hemp seed oil is naturally packed with omegas (with 40% less saturated fat than olive oil) and made from one of the most sustainable plants on the planet. So you will have arrived at hemp oil one of two ways – a growing consciousness about your health or our earth. And for that, we applaud you. While we don’t really think your dressing defines who you are, we think making small changes in pursuit of a healthier world does.
These are some of our all-time favourite hemp seed oil dressings. You can use either our Good Hemp Extra Virgin Hemp Seed Oil or Good Hemp Original Hemp Seed Oil – both are nice and nutty but Extra Virgin is a stronger taste. Try all of them to find your personality:
Tahini Dressing
Choosing tahini is like choosing to spend a long afternoon with friends – chatting in the sunshine – over finishing lingering work. A tahini dressing person is a true lover of life that doesn’t sweat the small stuff. They see the good in everyone and make the best of every situation. When life gives them lemons, they make tahini dressing.
Recipe: 8 tbsp tahini, 2 garlic cloves minced very finely into a paste, 1 lemon juice, 4 tablespoon hemp seed oil, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 8 tablespoons lukewarm water
Garlic Dressing
Truly independent, this person knows their own mind (and taste buds). They’re a leader of the pack and do so with energy and enthusiasm. They rarely think of the consequences of their actions but it always works out in their favour. They’re not afraid of a bit of a punch – this works out for them too.
Recipe: 4 tbsp hemp oil, 4 tpsp white wine vinegar, 3 cloves garlic minced, ⅛ tsp pepper, ⅛ tsp salt
Asian Style Dressing (served with kale)
There’s a spiritedness to someone that goes for an Asian style dressing over a traditional vinaigrette. They want to explore what life has to offer and they’re not afraid to push out of their comfort zone to do so. The sweet and the sour is part of life. They’d serve this with kale in the winter (but they ate it before it was cool) and over curly lettuce in summer.
Recipe: 150 ml extra virgin hemp seed oil, 100ml seasoned rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, 50ml soy sauce, pinch of salt
Honey Mustard
The honey mustard dressing is one you come back to when you don’t feel like pushing out the boat, and want to feel safe in the harbour. A honey mustard person is a fan of long conversations and even longer walks. They listen rather than talk and they make you feel at home, no matter where you are.
Recipe: 4 tbsp hemp oil, 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar , ½ tsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp Dijon mustard, 2 tbsp honey, salt and pepper to taste
Hemp Vinaigrette
While this is the most traditional of the dressings, lovers of this are not total traditionalists. If they were, they wouldn’t dream of making vinaigrette without olive oil. Yes, they’ve got a strong set of values, a good moral compass and a formed opinion, but they’re willing to listen to others and learn from them. Like when we say anything olive oil can do, hemp can do better.
Recipe: 4 tbsp hemp oil , 1 ½ tsp lemon juice, 1 ½ tsp balsamic vinegar, 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard, Salt and pepper to taste
