It’s Random Act of Kindness Day!

What is it all about?

February can be a strange month for some, you may have tailed-off from your New Year’s Resolutions and slipped back into habits you were trying to leave behind in 2021. Today is ‘A Random Act of Kindness Day’, it’s pretty self-explanatory, but it is a day where you should be kind to yourself and others through random acts like going on a walk or checking in with a neighbour.

Here are just a few ways you can be kind to yourself and the planet on a daily basis!

The Great Outdoors:

Spending time outside in a green space or bringing nature into your everyday life can have a great impact on both your mental and physical wellbeing. Getting fresh air every day and taking some time out of your day to relax can help reduce blood pressure, improve your mood and leave you feeling more focused – that sounds like a good enough excuse to get outside for us! Whether you like to run, cycle or walk your dog through the park – getting some fresh air and moving your body everyday is a great way to release endorphins (those chemicals that make you happy).

Food is Fuel:

Another way to be kind to yourself is through food. Ever heard of the saying ‘food is fuel’? well that’s because it’s true. Having a well-balanced diet will also help to improve your mental wellbeing as it will give your body the right nutrients it needs to function every day. A well-balanced diet means you can still munch on your favourite chocolate bar or packet of crisps (phewww).

Hemp is one of those superfoods that you could add to your everyday diet to give you that extra bit of energy. Hemp is packed full of fibre which will help keep you fuller for longer and it is positively overflowing with Omega-3, 6 and 9 – and you can’t get better fats than these. Say hello to healthy hearts, brain boosting and great skin, hair and immune systems. If you haven’t incorporated hemp into your diet before, here are some easy ways to do so.

Looking after your body:

Looking after our body by giving it time to relax is just as important as getting up and moving it every day. There will be days when your body tells you to relax and enjoy a cosy day in and that is sometimes just what we need to recover. You may have had a long stressful week at work, or you might have gone too hard at the gym. Earlier this year, Good Hemp came out with their first non-edible product to help relax the body. Introducing the mighty CBD Balm!

This warming muscle massage balm helps your body rest, recover and rejuvenate before or after exercise. Loaded with 500mg CBD it’s been crafted alongside athletes to provide the right balance of CBD and natural ingredients to ensure effective workout relief, every time. All you have to do is add a pea-sized piece to the affected area and massage it in 3-4 times a day.

Looking after the planet:

We only get one planet and at the moment we aren’t doing a very good job of looking after it. There are lots of ways we can be kinder to the planet – if you need some help here is a short list:

  • Recycle – whether that’s recycling food packaging, using recycled bags when you go shopping or using re-usable water bottles.
  • Eating those leftovers– food waste is a major issue we are facing right now. If we added up all the food waste in the world it would be the fourth biggest contributor to greenhouse gases out of all the countries in the world.
  • Save water – make sure the dishwasher or washing machine is full of dirty dishes and clothes before putting it on to help save the number of times you need to use them.
  • The food you eat – it’s no secret that eating more plant-based meals will help to reduce your carbon footprint. Part of our mission here at Good Hemp is to encourage more people to go vegan, one dash of dairy-free milk at a time. Even if you switch out one meal for plant-based meal every week, you should give yourself a pat on the back.

Here at Good Hemp we are on a mission to make our factory in North Devon waste-free. Every last bit of the hemp seed is used in our oils, milks and protein powders and they’re delivered to you in leave-no-trace packaging. All the goodness, nothing to landfill.

Everyone has a part to play – whether you religiously recycle, eat a plant-based diet or walk everywhere, you’re helping the planet one step at a time!
