Chia and hemp seed hearts have a lot in common. Naturally packed with protein, fibre and omega 3, the seeds are digested slowly and provide a gradual release of energy throughout the day (aka the perfect breakfast food). If we had to pick one we’d obviously go for hemp (hemp is the most effective source of plant-based omega-3 available because it is much easier for us to digest and the protein in hemp seeds contains all essential amino acids), but for this recipe why not maximise effect and go for both?
When left to soak in hemp drink, the chia seeds thicken up and take upon a satisfying texture that’s a bit like jelly, while absorbing the light and nutty flavour of hemp.
