9 High-Protein Vegan Breakfast Recipes
If you’re a self-confessed foodie, then you’ve come to the right place. At Good Hemp, we believe in the importance of fueling your body the right way throughout the day – with a healthy dose of energy-packed hemp protein!
According to the Association of British Dieticians, you need to consume protein throughout the day to maintain your energy and support the regeneration of muscles, bones and tissue – especially when you work out. And since we’re all about living an active lifestyle, we’ve reached for our pinnies and rolled up our sleeves to create a pantry full of nutritious and totally delicious high-protein recipes to kick-start your day.
What’s the secret ingredient? Hemp, of course! Our champion product is a particularly good plant-based source of protein and can easily be shaken, stirred and swigged to help boost your daily intake.

1. Hemp Protein Pancakes
Whether it’s the weekend or a Wednesday, pancakes are always a good idea. You fancy something a little indulgent, but you don’t want to fall victim to that inevitable sugar rush and start dozing off before lunchtime – we get it. What if we told you our protein-packed chocolate hemp pancakes (courtesy of food blogger Romy London) are both mouthwateringly good and provide a slow release of energy that won’t result in a mid-morning slump?
That’s right, these tasty morsels are actually packed with healthy ingredients that will provide a sufficient protein hit, and keep you feeling full and energised until lunchtime.
- Good Hemp raw 50% protein
- Buckwheat flour
- Good Hemp seed milk
- Raw cacao powder
- Apple cider vinegar
- Hemp seeds for sprinkling
Top it off with a selection of berries, a sprinkling of hemp seeds and an artistic drizzle of nut butter – it’s without doubt the best way to start your day if you’re a sweet-tooth, like us!
2. Savoury CBD and Hemp Seed Granola
Hands up if you like granola?! Who are we kidding, everybody likes granola; it’s crunchy, nutty and a pretty sweet addition to a dollop of dairy free yoghurt, right? Well prepare for your mind to be blown as we introduce our recipe for a savoury (yes, savoury), seriously moreish granola.
Invented by plant-based chef Lauren Lovatt, this va-va-voom version of granola is created by tossing a blend of oat and hemp seeds with parsley, nutritional yeast, lemon zest and a splash of pure CBD oil for a twist on your morning go-to. Or hey, it even works as a lunch option paired with zucchini tagliatelle, poured onto salads, or even as a cheffy topping to your baked sweet potato!
Variety is the spice of life, after all.
3. Dark Chocolate, Macadamia & Hemp Protein Loaf
If you’re a keen baker (isn’t everybody during lockdown?), this dark chocolate, macadamia and hemp protein loaf makes for an indulgent high-protein breakfast or 4pm coffee-and-cake situation.
Inspired by plant-based recipe developer Luce Hosier (a.k.a What Luce Eats), this luxurious loaf is a great option whether you’re lounging in front of the TV or on-the-go, with enough of the good stuff to set you up for a busy day – including a splash of our Good Hemp milk and Good Hemp protein powder, both of which provide a vital source of omega-3. Which means this chocolatey loaf is the answer to a healthy brain, skin and heart!
And since this healthy bake is full of goodness, there’s no need to feel guilty about serving up another slab…
4. Cacao and Banana Porridge
Let’s be honest, we’ve all drooled over a steamy bowl of porridge on Instagram; well, this dreamy breakfast concoction is equally as enviable and super easy to make without the need to visit an overpriced cafe. Another classic from Luce Hosier, this warming bowl is not only good for the soul, but our guts too – and therefore our entire body – since we’ve thrown in a few scoops of our Hemp Protein Fibre Boost powder. Did you know only 1 in 10 adults in the UK eats their daily recommended 30g of fibre? Just two tablespoons of this hemp powder alone provides half of your daily intake of fibre – plus you’ll be increasing your protein and iron, too!
The best part? You can serve this recipe hot or cold, so you won’t have to part with your beloved winter brekkie once the weather warms up – simply prep your oats the night before and Voilà.
5. Homemade Granola with Hemp Seed Hearts
Another one for the granola lovers. One reason why shop-bought granola is so tasty is because it’s pretty much laced in sugar, so it’s no surprise that health-conscious granola guzzlers like us are trialing the DIY route – which can be hit and miss, let’s face it. But we’ve cracked it. This recipe uses hemp seed hearts (which are bursting with omega-3, fibre, and protein, might we add) to create a protein-packed trail mix that can be enjoyed with a splash of cold hemp seed milk, or sprinkled on top of your porridge for that added crunch!
6. Smoked Tomato Protein Pancakes
Grab your apron, we’re getting cheffy! Whether you’re a lover of all things savoury or simply a sucker for a cooked breakfast (or both), these restaurant-worthy smoked tomato protein pancakes are well worth waking up for. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon snack – hey we’re not judging – these nutritious pancakes are full of healthy ingredients, starring our hemp protein and hemp seeds, of course. Browse our simple recipe and discover our top tip for creating the fluffiest pancakes…
7. Triple Berry Super Smoothie Bowl with Hemp Milk
Never been a big breakfast eater? No worries, there are other ways to effectively kick-start your day instead of ploughing through a bowl of porridge. If you’re partial to a fruit smoothie, this is the recipe for you, as we’ve put our very own spin on a South American classic – the famous Açaí na tigela (or Açaí bowl to you and I).
This colourful Brazillian dish is typically made from frozen Açaí berries that are blitzed with other fruits to create a knock-out smoothie oozing with nutrients and antioxidants. Throw our Good Hemp milk and hemp seed hearts into the mix, and you’ve got yourself a pretty-impressive protein cocktail. Serve with a sprinkle of fresh fruit and our homemade granola, or pour into your keep cup and enjoy while running your errands.
Either way, it’s berry nice…
8. Vegan Chickpea and Hemp Protein Bread
A high-protein bread is a great option if you’re after a healthy pre or post-gym breakfast; particularly when you smother it with smashed avo, hummus or PB and jelly (we’re not hungry, you are). Yes, we know that making your own bread sounds laborious when you can pop out and buy it, but we promise you won’t regret it.
This vegan loaf is super simple to make and boasts a cocktail menu of healthy ingredients, including chickpea flour and almond flour (high in protein, vitamins and minerals) mixed with our trusty hemp protein, milk and oil for that all-important omega-3 boost.
It makes for a therapeutic morning of baking and we’ve heard that it tastes even better if you’ve made it yourself…
9. Hemp Seed Streusel Muffins
If you’re anything like us you would’ve been the first to jump on the banana bread hype during lockdown 1.0, fine-combing your recipe so much so that you’ve already applied to be on the next GBBO. Well, all that practice has led us to create our new favourite hemp seed-inspired snack – enter the streusel muffin.
What’s a streusel? Oh, why the best part – the word streusel simply refers to the crumbly top of the muffin, which in our eyes is only made better with a sprinkling of crunchy protein-packed hemp seeds. We teamed up with Izy Hossack at Top With Cinnamon to craft this can’t-get-enough-of recipe, which is perfect for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up with a cuppa. Or quite literally any other time of day, they’re that good.
Feeling peckish?
